Melanie Parker, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Biography
Melanie believes that physical and mental health cannot be mutually exclusive. While medication can be a powerful tool in supporting mental health wellbeing, it is never the pinnacle of mental health care. Using Cognitive Behavioral therapy and traditional supportive therapy techniques, Melanie focuses on her patient’s individual needs and goals, always remaining client/patient focused. If the patient would like to integrate medication into their care, Melanie is fully versed in the indications and contraindications of psychotropic medication. She has worked intensely with patients who struggle with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar disorder, and Schizophrenia. Although the majority of her work has been inpatient, Melanie is looking forward to expanding her practice to the outpatient setting.
Melanie has spent the past 5 years working with the Multnomah County Health Department. She resides in Portland with her partner and two sons. She is a native Oregonian and was trained at Oregon Health & Science University
